Spreading Joy, Hope, and Inclusion: GPC Liberia’s Christmas Outreach to Persons with Disabilities

Celebrating Compassion and Solidarity

On 23 December 2025, the Global Peace Chain (GPC) Liberia, under the guidance of Country Director Amb. John Nelson Hadji organized a heartfelt Christmas Outreach to Persons with Disabilities in central Monrovia. The initiative was designed to extend festive joy, compassion, and solidarity to individuals who are often overlooked in society, including those with visual impairments, physical disabilities, and mobility challenges.

This outreach embodied GPC Liberia’s belief that peace is not only a principle but a practice, manifested through tangible acts that uplift vulnerable communities and nurture human dignity.

Engaging Participants and Creating Impact

The activity brought together 38 participants, comprising persons living with disabilities, GPC Liberia leadership, Peace Ambassadors, and volunteers. Together, they created a warm and inclusive environment where beneficiaries felt seen, valued, and celebrated.

During the outreach, participants received food items and assorted goods, including rice and Vita seasoning, to ease daily burdens and add a touch of festive cheer. More than just material support, the initiative fostered meaningful dialogue, fellowship, and emotional encouragement, allowing beneficiaries to connect with the GPC team and share their experiences, hopes, and aspirations.

Country Director Amb. John Nelson Hadji emphasized that peace must be demonstrated through action, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to inclusive peacebuilding. Peace Ambassadors Amb. Fredrick Andrew Owens and Amb. George A. Borbor Jr. reinforced this message, highlighting empathy, unity, and solidarity as essential foundations for strong and resilient communities.

Inspiring Hope and Strengthening Community Bonds

The Christmas Outreach was more than a seasonal initiative—it was a reminder of the ongoing needs of persons living with disabilities and the importance of sustained support throughout the year. By engaging directly with beneficiaries, GPC Liberia strengthened trust within the community and showcased the organization’s dedication to ensuring that no one is left behind.

The outreach also highlighted the power of collaboration and shared responsibility. Volunteers, Peace Ambassadors, and leadership worked together to make the initiative meaningful and impactful, setting an example of how collective efforts can transform communities. The experience inspired participants and organizers alike to think creatively about future programs, expanding support and inclusion for even more individuals in need.

A Vision for Inclusive Peace

Through this initiative, GPC Liberia demonstrated that peace, inclusion, and solidarity are lived values, expressed through tangible acts of service. By combining material support with emotional encouragement, dialogue, and community engagement, the outreach created a lasting impact on both the beneficiaries and the organizers.

Moving forward, GPC Liberia aims to scale up inclusive outreach programs, strengthen partnerships with disability-focused organizations, and integrate regular humanitarian and peacebuilding initiatives targeting vulnerable groups. The goal is to ensure that every individual, regardless of ability, experiences dignity, hope, and belonging—reflecting the true spirit of peace in action.

Leaving a Lasting Legacy

The Christmas Outreach to Persons with Disabilities serves as a powerful reminder that acts of kindness, solidarity, and empathy can transform lives. It reinforced that peace is built through care, action, and inclusion, inspiring hope for stronger, more resilient communities.

As beneficiaries celebrated together with GPC Liberia’s leadership and Peace Ambassadors, the smiles, laughter, and shared stories highlighted the transformative power of compassion. Initiatives like this demonstrate that when communities come together, guided by empathy and solidarity, we not only spread joy but also strengthen the foundations of lasting peace.
