“My name is Yasmin Bedewi and I was born in 20th of November, 2004 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I have two parents and three siblings. I am the second daughter of a family of six. My older sister is a third year medical student and my little sister and brother are a 10th grader and 6th grader respectively. I am a high school senior at Gibson Preparatory School. I am an aspiring change maker for the world. I want to learn psychology and business for my undergraduate degrees.
By the grace of God, I’m always in the top five students of the class. I’ve been an Honor Roll student for years now. I usually am a leader of different clubs in our school and this year, I’m the vice president of our School Peace club. I love doing physical activities in my free time which includes swimming as my favorite. I also love cooking for my family often times. I love organizing things and having responsibilities to fulfill.
In summer of 2021 I was able to attend the Yale Young African Scholars (YYAS) program which was a really life-changing event for me as an aspiring change maker. I also got to save a spot for a project with the Harvard Undergraduate Partners for Africa in partnership with Empowerment Pads to give big thing I was excited to be part of.”
