Haiti

Hello, my name is Wilbert Fils Pierre-Louis. I am from Haiti. I’m in the first semester of my sophomore year studying Applied Linguistics at State University of Haiti. I was born in a small city named Martissant. Martissant is located about 20 kilometers west of Port-au-Prince which is the capital. Following the death of my father. My mother immediately moved with my brothers and me to Delmas, which is where I grew up. I spent almost all my life in Delmas. In 2011, I started going to APJ High School, where I graduated in 2017. That same year, I was enrolled in the ESL program for a year in Blessing Institute, which is an English Institute. At this school, I focused on achieving my goals, including learning English Language, participating in extracurricular activities and doing well in all my classes. In 2018, I succeeded the admission test of state University of Haiti. In my junior year, I have joined an English and a Spanish club. Along with the school, I also found a part-time job in a language institute, which consisted to teach ESL to young learners. I like playing chess. I enjoyed reading, writing, E-learning and volunteering. I decided to become an Applied Linguist because I have always been fascinated by languages and the worldwide connection they create. A degree in Applied Linguistics will enable me to achieve my goals and also give an opportunity to deal with other cultures and people. I also would like to be an Ambassador in order to represent my country in a positive manner and to foster good relationships with other people.
