What inspired you to be a part of Global Peace Summit Baku, 2022? (Max 300 Words)
I have always been inspired by the contradiction in my life.
While my Mother was awarded as a Peace Laureate for being part of the delegation that negotiated the peace treaty of South Sudan, I grew up in East Africa where most countries such as the Congo, child soldiers in Uganda, Somalia, Darfur, genocide in Rwanda, Burundi. Even my own country Kenya has IDPs (internally displaced persons) to this day due to the post-election violence of 2007.
I have also felt the plague of war having lived in West Africa – Sierra Leone.
Being raised in a family where peace is discussed at the dinner table but in a region where war is the norm, has always challenged me to do everything possible to ensure stability, peace and human rights prevail.
I believe that attending the Global Peace Summit Baku 2022 will help me perpetuate peace in an impactful, meaningful, and most importantly- long-lasting way.
Also, the current situation with Russia and Ukraine has also made me realize that globally, we have a long way to go and all our combined efforts truly matter.
