“Mrs. Vandana Siew Sankar-Ali is a Clinical Psychologist with a Masters of Sciences (Hons) degree from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. She works in the field of Child Protection and has played an instrumental role in re-engineering the child protection system of Trinidad and Tobago into a new and progressive one. Mrs. Siew Sankar-Ali has operationalised and manages Assessment Centres in Trinidad and Tobago – one stop shops where children in need of care and protection receive multidisciplinary evaluations and forensic services.
In 2018, Mrs. Siew Sankar-Ali served as an Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago as part of a Government delegation at the prestigious International Visitor’s Leadership Programme in Washington, DC and Los Angeles, California, in the area of Countering Violent Extremism. She has also sat on multiple Parliamentary Joint Select Committees and national stakeholder planning Committees, and made contributions in the spheres of child maltreatment, child rights, mental health and national security.
In addition to the aforementioned public sector work, Mrs. Siew Sankar-Ali has done work for and presented on many forums for non-governmental organizations and via various media platforms . She has done numerous presentations to various audiences on child protection, child development, child rights, parenting, self psychology, marriage and relationships. She has in the past coordinated several social and cultural empowerment projects in her community.
In her free time, Mrs. Siew Sankar-Ali enjoys cooking, photography, watching movies and travelling.”
