Thamilvaani Manaharan was born in Ipoh Perak, Malaysia in 1984. She received her PhD in Medical Sciences (Majoring: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology) in 2012 from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. She received her first research fellowship from Groningen Medical Centre, The Netherlands and joined the Kidney Centre research team. In 2013, she joined the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, where she served as Postdoctoral Researcher of the Molecular Medicine Department and also teaches Biochemistry and Molecular Basis of Medicine (3 credit hour of Lecture/PSS/Practical) for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery students. In 2016, she joined the Centre of Research for Computational Sciences and Informatics for Biology, Bioindustry, Environment, Agriculture and Healthcare (CRYSTAL) as a Research Fellow where she supervises research activities in the field of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology. She has been involved in many collaborative research projects with diverse organisations such as SIRIM SDN BHD, Monash University Malaysia, International Medical University (IMU), Institute of Medical Research (IMR), National Kenaf and Tobacco Board and financed by MOSTI Science Fund, High Impact Research (HIR) Grant, Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), and IMPACT Malaysia. Her research expertise involving Natural Products and Drug Discovery, Chromatography, Genomics, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), and Cell Biology. Her research prowess have earned her 21 journal papers, 2 book chapters and 10 national and international conferences indexed by the Web of Science, https://publons.com/researcher/38115688/thamilvaani-manaharan/. She also served as a distinguished peer reviewer of international journals like Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Annual Research and Review in Biology and British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research. She has earned several professional certifications in Governance and Autonomy of Higher Education (AKEPT), Problem Based Learning Tutor (UM), and Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). Recently, associated as a Dean in Faculty of Agro-Biotechnology, University College of Yayasan Pahang (UCYP), Malaysia. She involves in management of faculty and also teaches Plant Science (3 credit hour of Tutor/Practical) for Diploma in Agricultural Science students. She also served as the Vice President of Industrial Linkages and Research Development at UCYP. She was involved in setting up strategic partnership with national and global higher education institutions based on sustainable development and operational for academic requirements. She was a member of management board and monitor students’ and staff’s performance aimed at enhancing research productivity and implementing technology advancement in higher education platform.
