When a young girl named Amina refused to let war steal her dreams, I realised peace is empowerment in action. My name is Shreya Sharma, and I hold a Bachelor’s in Literature and pursue a Master of Social Work at Western Sydney University to advance systemic social development. In 2023, I helped 120 refugee children access education and 45 women enrol in vocational programs. With the United Nations Association of Australia, I co-coordinated One Voice, One Humanity, a human rights event with 300 participants, resulting in five student-led peace projects. As Director of the Student Union and Deputy Chair of the NSW International Students Committee, I represent 20,000 students, empowering 1,200 through inclusion, mentorship, and food security initiatives while mentoring 5,000+ women globally to improve access to education and careers.
