See Chang Sheng (William See)

Malaysia

William See is a renowned leader in the field of Personal and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), dedicated to promoting humanity and social responsibility. With a deep commitment to creating a sustainable and equitable future, he aligns his initiatives with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

Born in 1993 in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia, William’s journey as a humanitarian began at a young age. Growing up in a low-income family, he learned the value of empathy and the power of positive actions. Inspired by his father, he embraced the belief that even the smallest acts of kindness could positively impact and assist others.

William’s advocacy for education as a catalyst for change led him to launch his first book, “Empowering Change through Education,” in 2022. Co-authored by Datin Ainsley and Dr Garry Kuan, and supported by the University Science of Malaysia, the book, titled “Game On: How to Be a Super Hero and Save the World through SDGs,” introduces the SDGs to children and demonstrates how sustainable heroes can incorporate these goals into their daily lives. The publication serves as an influencer, raising awareness about the environment and the SDGs while also functioning as a CSR initiative. For every book purchased, William and his team donate one to primary schools, vulnerable groups, or libraries, firmly believing that education is a source of inspiration.

Recognizing the importance of blood donation, William founded the Persatuan Derma Darah Malaysia (PDDM) in 2013. This blood donation NGO plays a crucial role in Malaysia, where there is a constant demand for blood donors. Through PDDM, William has motivated countless individuals to contribute to society by donating blood, saving lives in the process. His expertise in this area has garnered attention from local newspapers and radio stations, where he shares his knowledge and encourages more people to get involved.

In 2018, William initiated the Action Against Dengue Community Empowerment Program (AADCEP) to address the risks of dengue and Covid-19. Collaborating with 20 corporate companies and 15 educational institutions, AADCEP has reached over 153,000 individuals. The program’s efforts, including the release of a dengue-themed song and music video with lyrics by William, have gained media coverage and attracted millions of views on YouTube.

Throughout his journey, William has been dedicated to empowering youth leaders to become CSR champions. Since 2013, he has nurtured and supported young leaders, encouraging them to participate in initiatives such as the Hati Bersama Mu program, Blood Donation Campaigns, support for the Orang Asli community, and The Deep of Farmer project. His goal is to inspire leaders to serve humanity and ensure that no one is left behind.

William’s commitment to the Orang Asli community dates back to 2015 when he began implementing projects focused on education, well-building, and housing. He aims to uplift the Orang Asli community by providing access to quality education, clean water, and safe housing. In 2020, he assisted in setting up a mobile clinic to ensure that the Orang Asli population could receive Covid-19 vaccinations.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, William’s dedication to serving humanity reached new heights. He provided support to front-liners and the less fortunate, donating masks to hospitals and bringing joy to patients, doctors, and nurses by assuming the role of Santa Claus. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and movement restrictions, he arranged blood donations to ensure that patients received the care they needed.

William is an outstanding leader and humanitarian who has achieved remarkable success in the NGO, charity, and CSR sectors. He has won 69 local and international awards, including the World Most Outstanding Local President at JCI World Congress and the Most Outstanding Local President Award in Asia and Pacific Region. Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, he led his team to complete 152 physical projects and 284 online programs with more than 500 project meetings. William is an inspiring role model for aspiring leaders, and under his leadership, JCIKLM has won 36 major awards at national conferences.
