I am Salma Halioui, a PhD researcher in the field of sustainable tourism and rural community empowerment. I am currently coordinating a cooperation project between BTU CS in Germany and the university of Carthage in Tunisia. This project aims at establishing a long-term cooperation in the field of heritage management and sustainable tourism. I initiated this cooperation in January 2019 (this project is financed by DAAD). This project aims at promoting cultural dialogue between students and young academics in Tunisia and Germany. Also, it contributes to modernising education and gives the chance to Tunisian students to have a learning environment comparable to German universities.
In addition to my academic background in the field of sustainability and environmental planning, I am socially engaged and a member in a couple of NGOs aiming at promoting sustainability, reducing social disparities and enhancing social well-being in Tunisia.
