My name is Rosa Aquino, I am a young Afro-descendant leader and I am 25 years old. I finished my
university studies with honors at the Catholic University of Honduras (UNICAH). I am an
independent lawyer in my own company, Aquino-Hernández Legal Services. I am an activist and
Human Rights defender, I am part of the network of women defenders of CEPROSAF, Asociación
Honduras Negras (Honduran Association of Black Women, HONNE). I was selected to be part of
the Ibero-American Youth Network, a Network of young leaders who seek to promote and
empower individual guarantees and democracy. I am currently part of the Global Network of
Young Politicians of Honduras, Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) which is a flagship
program of the US Department of State for emerging entrepreneurs and business leaders from
Latin America and the Caribbean. I was selected as a Smartcom intern to attend the digital security workshop for journalists, communicators and human rights activists and I am currently the winner of an international scholarship from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, Spain.
