Patrick Chandiga Justine Abure, 23, is a Social Activist who works with youth, women and community leaders to amplify youth voices of peacebuilding and creating a refugee camp that works for all, through social advocacy and youth empowerment programs. Patrick, co-founder and CEO of Community Empowerment for Creative Innovations -CECI – a registered refugee youth-led non-profit that use recreational activities, education and other innovations to address social problems and transform community-based conflicts into a culture of peace and nonviolence, believes that the youth strong and full of energy can be great agents of change (peace) when given the right skills and knowledge and opportunities. Patrick has eighteen months experience facilitating peacebuilding, trauma healing, HateSpeech mitigation programs in different refugee camp settlements in Uganda and has empowered hundreds of refugee youth, women, and community leaders, who are actively engaged in peacebuilding and social advocacy in their communities. Patrick, a student of Amuca Ministerial College studying Diploma in theology is also a renown elder and Evangelist of Koboko Seventh-day Adventist Church. Patrick’s mission is to create a peaceful refugee camp settlement that works for all – has opportunities for youth to voice their ideas, engage in decision-making processes, and develop their leadership potential and contribute meaningfully to socio-economic development and achievement of sustainable peace in the world.
