Ousman Camara

Gambia

Ousman Camara is from an underdeveloped small Sub Saharan African country called The Gambia, where the literacy rate is 55% in 2019. He is currently pursuing his first degree in International Politics at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar under the sponsorship of Qatar Foundation. He is passionate about learning new languages as he fluently speaks both English and Arabic, and is currently learning French and German simultaneously. He is a youth advocate for Silatech and Education Above All Foundation in Qatar. He believes that SDG4 (quality education) is the key to a successful nation, as a nation cannot excel without quality education and the SDGs are only achievable with a sustained mobilization and efficient use of resources. He considers himself fortunate to be a student at a prestigious institution like Georgetown University. Georgetown has provided him with various benefits, aside from a solid education. The University has instilled a faith in him that strongly believes in equal access and the right to education for all individuals of rich or poor backgrounds. He believes that we live in an imperfect world and we all have the power within us to make that world just a little bit better. That could be fighting for social justice, improving community relations and working for the environment. He is very grateful to reap the benefit of quality education and is looking forward to cooperating with people with similar goals and mindsets.
