Nobel Aka, Event Writer at the United Nations Association in Canada Toronto Region Branch.
Nobel Aka has spent over a decade advocating for and working to improve young people lives. He currently serves as the Event Writer of the United Nations Association in Canada Toronto Region Branch (UNACTO); where he handles the ideation and creation of compelling website, blog and social media content, blog posts, social media content. He is responsible for adding value by actively engaging the Greater Toronto Area/stakeholders and maintaining a cohesive brand voice.
He also serves as the YMCA – NYLD Newcomers Young Leadership Development Program Assistant-Coordinator, where he helps for the implementation of the Agency’s Responsibilities Strategy, help young boys and girls’ newcomers (Refugees, immigrants and expats) in the Toronto Area on their leadership development.
He previously played an advisory role on Youth Immigration and homelessness issues in Toronto for the YMCA Toronto and, from 2017 to 2019, developed and executed on a legislative strategy for the YMCA-Scarborough’s Shelter that led to the improvement of the agency services.
Prior to working at the YMCA, Mr. Aka served as chief of staff at the Hillary Clinton Campaign in 2016 at Miami Dade College, Wolfson Campus, and served as the AIESEC Florida International University Vice President Human Resources.
In 2015, Nobel Aka was one of the only eight students/5000 applications – selected In Ivory Coast by the US Department of State, to participate in their annual Exchange Fellowship in the United States, the Community College Initiative Program. A program that led him at many conferences and seminars at the White House with President Obama and Chelsea Clinton, at the United Nations HQ in New York City with Ban Ki Moon, at the L.A conference Center with Bill Clinton.
Mr. Aka earned an Executive Master of Linguistics and American Civilization and a Sustainable Development diploma through Ecotourism, jointly from the University Felix Houphouet Boigny in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire and the Miami Dade College, Florida, USA.
As a part of his degree, he conducted research on effective public-sector reform in fragile and conflict-affected states in Sub-Saharan countries for the Governance, Open-Societies and Anti-Corruption at the Miami Dade College Institute for Civic Engagement and Democracy.
Mr. Aka is a certified Conflict Resolution and Human Resources Manager from the Society For Human resources US, certified Proposal and Grant Writer, Project Manager certified, Bilingual Public Speaker With Confidence, Business Writer, Leadership Concept, Event Planner and Team Building certified from the Orlando Disney World, Community Manager Certified and a Certified International Community Tour Guide from the Greater Miami Visitor Bureau.
In 2018, he was nominated by both the British Council and the United nations Canada to be among the 75 young most Active Citizens in Canada. This nomination provided him the opportunity to learn about social innovation through intercultural dialogue and community-led social development not only in Canada, but also and mainly around the world.
Mr. Aka also earned a bachelor’s degree in political science, with a concentration in international relations, from Catholic University of West Africa in 2014.
