I am particularly interested in the social-political-development nexus that shapes a society and the
weight given to social justice along its continuum.
My life has been impacted, and enriched, by “clear and present” experiences. Personal experience has made me aware that if one does not have access to competent legal aid, legal recourse is limited or often unattainable.
My conviction to enter the socio-legal development arena is not simply a passing fancy, based on childhood dreams and people’s transferred hopes it is my conviction because I have questioned the very structure of legal systems and how injustice can exist, with impunity, in democratic societies.
My life’s contribution is to diminish those inequities. My Doctorate research focuses on gender equality systems and gender based violence. I am currently conducting pilot studies in a few jurisdictions to empower women and girls in the political and social realms. I believe that violence is a multifaceted issue that is complexioned by cultural, structural and direct elements My practical solutions mitigates the impact(s) of violence through pre-emptive and quasi-prevention and monitoring mechanisms.
I am the recipient of the Barbados Soroptimist International of Jamestown Aspiring Leaders. Award.
Having completed the International Master in Peace, Conflict and Development at Universitat Jaume I, in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy, I have developed a strong discipline of peace research.
I work with children from the time I was 14 years old as part of my commitment to do service to others. In fact such “service to others” has moved from rudimentary one-to-one lessons with disadvantaged youth.
