Hi, my name is Merry Firdissa. I am twenty year old and I am a third year student at Addis Ababa University institute of science and technology. I am an Ethiopian born and raised in Addis. As a youth myself, I will try and make contributions towards impacting other youths by first becoming a model myself. I will try my best to get involved and come up with feasible solutions to the problems us youths of today are facing. I do not know for sure what this position requires of me but I promise if I get the opportunity, I will make the most of it. I am passionate about equality between men and women. I believe there is so much that still needs to be done so that girls might live free. I am passionate about this subject because I know it firsthand how being treated as a minor feels. And although luckily for me, I know my identity but there are millions of girls out there who do not. They believe what others say about them, they have not been granted equal opportunities and that needs to change. Every girl deserves equal chance and treatment, and I believe I have a part to play in making sure every girl gets her freedom. I am also passionate about environmental protection for reasons so broad but I believe I am an environmentalist because the act of not protecting it is like a time bomb. Even if it were not, it would still be so selfish of us humans who abide on this beautiful earth to not take care if it. It provides us everything yet all we do is hurt it and that is plain wrong. I just believe that we as humans need to care for the environment because then, we would be making sure the generations would have a safe home and even us in our lifetime, would not worry of a disaster.
