Maxwell Banda is a dynamic youth leader, international relations scholar, and development advocate from Zambia, dedicated to advancing peacebuilding, sustainable development, and inclusive governance across Africa. He currently serves as the Zambia Youth Representative to the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youth (UNMGCY) and the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), as well as Special Envoy to the African Food Systems Summit. In these capacities, Maxwell has represented Zambian and African youth in high-level dialogues, working with multilateral institutions, government officials, and international partners to shape policies on food security, climate resilience, and youth inclusion.
Over the years, Maxwell has worked with heads of diplomatic missions, government ministers, and regional youth organizations, contributing to strategic communications, youth engagement, and advocacy efforts across multiple international platforms. His experience includes participation in high-level dialogues and collaborations with organizations such as the African Union, FAO, and UN agencies, focusing on sustainable food systems and grassroots development. Maxwell’s leadership is grounded in practical community action, championing programs that empower young people to become active agents of peace and development. As an advocate, he has led initiatives aimed at combating misinformation, fostering civic participation, and promoting dialogue as a tool for social cohesion.
He is also a part-time student of International Relations and a holder of several professional certificates in diplomacy, communication, and project management. Beyond his policy and advocacy work, Maxwell possesses strong organizational and administrative skills, with a keen ability to manage teams, communicate effectively, and deliver results in fast-paced, multicultural environments.
With over three years of leadership experience in diplomacy, youth development, and stakeholder coordination, Maxwell embodies the values of the Global Peace Chain building bridges of understanding, promoting peace, and mobilizing young leaders toward a more just and sustainable world.
