Marta Kinga Maciejewska

Poland

My name is Marta Maciejewska, from Poland. I am 24 years old, born and raised in Warsaw. I study simultaneously two faculties, Law and International Relations at the University of Warsaw. This year I have graduated, Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolutions, postgraduate courses at Jagiellonian University, Cracow. In the future, I aim to be a diplomat. I am really passionate about traveling and Human Rights. I gained a lot of experience and knowledge from my solo expeditions. Since few years back I have attended consequently Model United Nations and there participate in Human Rights Council. I had a chance to be part of Warsaw MUN, Madrid MUN and got a scholarship to attend one in New York. I received an invitation to be part of a Japanese MUN, which was unfortunately postponed due to the Covid 19. Throughout mentioned experience I am acknowledged with violations of human rights in the world. Participants are able to discuss these obstacles and propose some solutions. The same experience derived from European Youth Event in Strasbourg where we, students, were able to discuss and suggest European politicians some ideas due to refugee crisis. My favorite fields of study are Human Rights, my bachelor’s thesis was dedicated to them. Moreover, I am really devoted to voluntary work. Before my lonely long term trip to India, where I spent few months as a volunteer, I was a volunteer in Poland. I was supporting families whose kids were placed in a hospices. Within years, I decided to undertake some internships. I gained experience in Polish Committee of UNESCO and European Foundation of Human Rights. Most of my time I spent there translating articles and writing ones. Additionally, for two years I was part of Dialogue Institute established by Fethullah Gullen. We were focused on HR’ and dialogue’ promotion due to the cultural differences. Despite the fact that my two faculties (Law and International Relations) at the University of Warsaw and mentioned above experience are related to the Human Rights and Peace Chain, personally, I have the feeling that all my knowledge and necessity to support others derives from my hobby. I am passionate about traveling. Most of my life I combined voluntary work with my solo travels. They gave me an opportunity to familiarize myself with other cultures, their obstacles and their realities. There are two travels which gave me the biggest and the most important lesson, to India and Mexico. Both of them inspired me and thanks to them I know that applying for initiatives like Yours is a right choice.
