Hailing from an indulgent family in a remote village of less developed southern Punjab, where higher education for women was still an aberration. I was raised to have a deep and reverential respect for the natural world around me. I was boyish in my ways and idealized everything that was against typical femininity and wanted to break stereotypes. So I chose a male dominant field and decided to be a Vet.

During my university time, I have had the privilege of working under the umbrella of Mentor Amiable and Professional Society (MAPS) on a community outreach program regarding “Child Labor Eradication”. The interaction I had with juvenile children helped me to formulate my approach in pursuing a designated emphasis on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Working as a Core Member in Youth Advocacy Network, I worked on a project of Life skills based education (LSBE) to improve the quality of life of young people by campaigning for the protection and promotion of their Sexual and Reproductive Rights.

I have been involved in different National and International organizations as a volunteer, co-founder and coordinator I organized “International Women’s Day” conducted by (UNFPA) in collaboration with the Punjab Government Population Department. As a compeer volunteer in Aurat Foundation and UNFPA I lead many projects that focus on empowering women. I also volunteered as a youth activist in Pakistan Youth Community and Coordinated with a team of 1000 members in arranging National Youth Ekath supported by Govt. Of the Punjab. and conducted several activities including Women Empowerment Session, Education for all, Role of Media in current age and Interfaith Harmony panel discussion.

Being Ambassador of Pakistan in “World Literacy Foundation” equipped me with new and unique tools and made me hungry for more of these tools and ideas and I began to look for a place where I could acquire them. So currently I am working as Provincial Coordinator of Talab-E-Aman (Students of Peace) which aims to build an enabling environment for young people to create a dialogue to promote peace and harmony for sustainable development. As an almini at Center For Human Rights Education (CHRE) I have completed 9 days participatory course on Peace building and Human Rights.
These experiences have moulded me into a hardworking and what I would call an
‘unflappable person’. Under these experiences I strongly feel I have found my Nia, or
purpose and now I must take the next step toward making my vision into reality.
