My name is Lisa Agnes Odhiambo, a dedicated lawyer and advocate for human rights, particularly gender rights. From as early as I can remember, I have always had a passion for Human Rights, Equality and Justice. This informed my choices in education and career.
Following my passion has led me to work for both global and local human rights organizations such as the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), Church World Service (CWS) and Equality Now. I have now transitioned into a human resources role. Most would call me a sell out! But I don’t think so. You see, employees in workplaces also need advocates and that is what I see myself as. I specialize in Diversity and Inclusion where I am using my legal expertise to drive diversity and inclusion initiatives within my organization. I am additionally prioritizing employee well-being by implementing wellness programs.
Outside of work, I mentor the youth, particularly those about to join the workforce. I believe that the best way to change culture is to have a positive influence on the youth and that is why I am so driven by this passion. I am also still an active volunteer in community projects that call on professionals to give advice or provide any sort of mentorship.
