“Laiba Rahman is a dedicated final-year student at the University of Delhi, India. She has been a dynamic Youth Worker. At just 20 years of age, she founded Awaaz Foundation, a registered NGO which has members from around India, that aims to further the fight against all forms of inequalities that our society is plagued by. Furthermore, she went on to collaborate with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees on a marketing project for COVID-19 face masks made by Rohingya and Afghani refugee women. The NGO also donated 3000+ sanitary napkins to the women asylum seekers in Delhi
Laiba has a keen interest in writing and debating and is known for her confidence. She is a leading female figure in the Indian Model UN Circuit. Furthermore, she is an ardent advocate of Human Rights. This is evident from the fact that she has been aired twice on India Ahead, a National News channel to talk about the significant Social Issues in India. She has an effective multitasking ability with a positive attitude in taking up challenges and delivering laudable results under grueling conditions.
Laiba has represented her country at several International forums. Laiba has been selected as among the best of Indian Youth to represent India at Harvard University Conference and as the Head of Delegation at the High-Level Youth Delegation visit to the People’s Republic of China. Moreover, she was also invited as the Guest of Honour at the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan to India for the celebration of their National Day. She has actively moderated summits with the Ambassadors of different countries like Argentina, China, Afghanistan, Denmark, Slovenia, Zimbabwe, Mexico, Russia, Norway, Serbia, Zambia and Chile to India.These achievements support the fact that she was a recipient of the Asia-Pacific Excellence Young Achiever Award and the Duke of Edinburgh Award.”
