Philippines

Kristian Quintal Aldea is a faculty at Catanduanes State University, Philippines. He advocates environmental peace. He believes that one of the ways of attaining peace is when natural ecosystems and their services are adequately provided and evenly distributed in the population. Several of his works deal with scientific and socio-economic attributes of an island ecosystem especially those vulnerable to climatic adversities. He is a mangrove science trainer with a training background from the Mangrove Conservation project by the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) (Philippine Chapter). Currently, his research and coastal engagements include other wetlands’  such as tidal flat dynamics (physico-chemical) and symbiotic crustacean (biological) conservation. He has been facilitating and conducting livelihood training (coastal communities), environmental impact assessments, and biodiversity monitoring among island habitats. He earned his degree in Marine Ecology (Ph.D.) at Kochi University, Japan.
