KHETHA Tejushwee Prathna

Mauritius

Prathna Tejushwee Khetha is a young influential and firm believer in giving today’s society a new breath of life. Only at the age of 21 years old, Prathna has gone to accomplish far beyond her expectation. One of the main reasons behind her achievement was her perseverance and kindhearted passions to help others though out her active collaboration with numerous NGO’s organizations to help the less fortunate regardless of their backgrounds. Her prime goal is to give the younger generation a different perspective of life filled with wisdoms and knowledge.

Currently a third year student at the University of Mauritius reading Law, Prathna is more than ever keen to obtain a first class degree so as to pursue her long lasting dream of becoming an Attorney-at-Law. Through out her university life, Prathna was part of the organising team of several conferences like the DCIMAU – Conférence internationale sur le Droit Constitutionnel, en marge du cinquentième anniversaire de la constitution mauricienne, Women in Leadership Workshop – whereby women were at honour to talk and discuss on sensitive points that should be tackled in the society. She is also fortunate enough to have the golden opportunity to be able to attend the “Climate Justice Conference” whereby she will be able to give her contribution to combat climate change and create a new mindset to sensitize people about the very importance of living in a fresh and healthy environment.

As touched upon earlier, Prathna has been involved with various NGO’s since her young age. Mostly inspired by her mother who was the then first lady President of her village, Prathna has gone to follow her footsteps by today being the youngest President of AIYVA – Alliance of Interconnected Young Volunteers Association with over 50 members. AIYVA has the tagline of “Grooming the Next Generation” and thus she works a lot in helping to shape the youngsters, who are the future of tomorrow, to improve their skills and bring the best out of them by providing a number of educational and recreational activities and often organising events to discuss the veil reality of how drugs are destroying families.

After having worked with several NGOs in the past such as SMART Mauritius, YUVA (Morcellement Saint Andre Branch as Vice President), and even with the SOS Village kids, she is mainly focused in the shaping of the youth and empowerment of women since she believe that the youth of today should rather fight against powers, principalities and against the rulers of darkness instead of flesh and blood. She strongly believe that after being on field for so many years, the youth of today needs guidance much more than anything else and thus by being available to them with so many activities that she organizes, she felt like seeing a change in the society.

Besides her active involvement with NGO’s, Prathna has always encouraged people to live a healthy lifestyle. Herself being a trained dancer and having worked with famous Bollywood choreographers such as Terrence Lewis and Bosco Martis, she started giving free dance classes at the Community Centre of the village for all the youngsters followed by Zumba classes in the evening for the ladies.
