Kateryna Olkhovyk is a human rights activist and educational consultant based in Ukraine. Kateryna has graduated with honors from Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. She completed her undergraduate degree in the field of international relations. Kateryna studied Asian studies and specialized in China. She was rated to be in the top 3% students of the University. Kateryna also broadened her knowledge of China when studying at Warsaw University’s School of Chinese Law and Economy. Besides, she participated in summer courses at the University of Vienna, Heidelberg University and won a scholarship for an educational program at Beijing Foreign Studies University. During her studies, she was a member of the Student Parliament and an active participant in the Responsible Business League in Poland. Kateryna organized a number of high-level delegation receptions, events, promotion meetings, and mobility fairs at her alma mater. She was an active CSR Ambassador in Poland and promoted good practices of social responsibility for local businesses of the Malopolska region. Kateryna actively participated in international conferences in Poland and Ukraine. In 2019 she was awarded a prestigious Yenching Academy Scholarship which supports future global leaders to pursue a master’s degree at Peking University in China. Studying Chinese law and society, Kateryna took part in research field trips to poor provinces in China, helped pupils at the school for migrant children from low-income families in Beijing, and went for volunteering to a poor Balinese fishing village in Indonesia.
This year Kateryna joined С.Academy as an educational consultant and started working at the Human Rights House in Chernihiv (Ukraine). She coordinates a project on a series of online discussions on movies about military conflicts and human rights violations. Kateryna was one of the main organizers of the biggest human rights festival in Ukraine – Educational Human Rights Fest 2020. She completed the course provided by Human Rights House Foundation and is preparing an advocacy campaign on promoting human rights education at schools with the focus of ensuring this right and education on territories affected by the military conflict in Ukraine.
Besides, Kateryna promotes peaceful dialogue for a sustainable future through art. She is a professional light painting artist and does her performances internationally. She was one of the speakers and performing artists during the World Youth Forum 2019 in Sharm El Sheikh (https://youtu.be/48BazMdaEBA). Kateryna is also interested in Orientalism, enjoys fencing and ice skating in her free time. She aspires to beсome the first woman to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and finish the military and informational confrontation in Ukraine by improving the peaceful dialogue with neighboring countries. Kateryna speaks Ukrainian, Russian, English, Polish, and Chinese fluently. She is also studying to further improve her Spanish and German.
