Philippines

As a Filipino, living in a third world country—the Philippines—it has indeed been an eye-opener to the numerous problems in the world, the most prominent in our country being poverty. As such, I volunteered for several medical missions in poor barangays, and I joined the Kythe program, which helps children with chronic illnesses through therapeutic play. Moreover, I wanted to use my voice to be heard on an international level; to address relevant issues in the world not being confined in the Philippines alone; thus, I joined the Model United Nations. Last 2019 I received an honorable mention for our school’s MUN as the delegate of the United Kingdome, and most recently, I won the best delegate in the International Model United Nations Online conference 20.0 as the delegate of Belgium. Despite all this, I could do more to help those who’re in need as I saw many Filipinos who’re significantly impacted by the pandemic, losing jobs, passengers, and income. Thus, I created my organization called Operation: Bayanihan that is designed to help Filipinos who’re in need. Most recently, we partnered with another organization called Project Bente PH to help Jeepney Drivers in the Philippines by providing them relief goods and face shields.
