I am Jonathan and I am 25 years old. I am a school teacher and I will graduate soon with a BA in Sociocultural Anthropology. This career has allowed me to work with vulnerable sectors such as children, youth, women and indigenous peoples both professionally and voluntarily, by teaching classes, promoting human rights issues, and access to comprehensive education. I am an active member and the cultural manager of a Honduran folk dance group. Through this group, I promote art and culture in schools in different municipalities of Honduras. In addition, I volunteer at another organization called for Go-Joven Honduras promoting sexual/reproductive rights and comprehensive education for young people.
I have acquired knowledge on corruption and transparency issues through online courses taught by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the University of Pennsylvania and Warton online. I also have acquired knowledge in Psychological First Aid through the Autonomous University of Barcelona (EBA) and on environmental and gender issues through the United Nations.
I have been recognized as a young leader in advocacy issues participating in high school leadership as Student President. Also, I was president of the board of directors of the folk dance group of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH). I am also part of the interdisciplinary research team through the Art department and the Anthropology career at UNAH.
As achievements, I have given bonding workshops in art and culture through Folklore and dance. In research issues, I have carried out sociocultural diagnoses on issues of inequality for indigenous communities such as the Tolupanes of the Marale community and I have participated as a speaker in scientific anthropology summits in countries like El Salvador and Costa Rica.
