John, born eighth in a family of nine children as John Ador Akoy to Mr. Joseph Akoy Yuol and Tabitha Akur Dau, is a South Sudanese story developer, script writer, an actor, author, human rights defender, human resources manager professionally and a peace, children rights, women rights & youth activist.
At early age, John was taken to refugee camp during the Sudan long civil war leaving his parents back home, where he struggled with school as well as life with his aunts and uncles.
He finished his primary school in Nairobi in 2002, went to Kampala Uganda for secondary education and managed to complete both O in 2006 and A level in 2008 (Form 4 and 6) despite difficulties.
He later joined Kenya National Theatre for one year in 2009 and did plays with Jicho 4 productions where he gained the skills and knowledge of theatre before going back to school, in Moi University, Eldoret and graduated in 2011 with Diploma in Business Management and 2014 with Bachelors of Business Management (Human Resource major).
John in early 2014 worked with a local women rights’ NGO while continuing with his writings and theatre works.
John has more than 10 years of theatre works, more than 10 years of working upholding of children rights, more than 4 years of human rights and more than 3 years of peace and youth rights with Anataban Arts Initiative.
He has written numerous, humorous, educative short stories, he shared on social platform as well as The Dawn Newspaper; Volume 1 of first 70 short stories published already and his first non-fiction novel ‘Unknown Gunmen of the Nile’ in progress.
