I have always believed that people must strive to follow their passion, improve the reality of their societies and work hard to achieve their goals. This could lead us to innovate and make a big impact on our societies and possibly the whole world.
When I was an undergrad student, I was fulfilling of passion, energy and dedication to helping everyone needs help. I have started my academic life with scientific research, thus giving me strong experience in the basics of research and epidemiology. I have been earned the two-best award in Syrian research competitions in 2017 and 2018. That gives me the potential to support my peers and learn everything they need. So, I have established (We Research Team) and conducted the first medical research conference that links all the Syrian universities together with the support of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. I was the person on charge of all the details of the conference from choosing the lecturers, mentoring the participants in the research groups for conducting research studies with different topics including TB, AIDS and antibiotics, supervising and coordinating of the research competition to all logistics, financial issues and sponsorships. After that, believing me of the epidemiology is the best way to improve reality, I established statistic and translations offices to support conducting research and publishing. That experience gives me strong knowledge about how can we
After the scientific research, my next step is establishing a medical, humanitarian and community-based foundation side by side with my primary work as a dentist and medical director at the medical centre. Our Hearts with You (OHWY) is a community-based humanitarian medical network that seeks to provide free medical aid to low-income and marginalized groups, including IDPs, persons with disabilities, and people affected by the crisis in Syria. Hundreds of thousands of my people have no access for healthcare, and that does not make me stop and do nothing, that gives me huge energy, determination and motivation to achieve a real impact and to be a small part of the solution. As a founder and managing director, I wrote the policies, processes and procedures for all departments such as Medical, Pharma, Projects, Human Resources, Strategic Management and Media & Communication, and this experience has helped me to learn valuable skills and knowledge which would benefit the advertised role. I was responsible for managing around 250 doctors, pharmacists, designers and volunteers, including analysing training needs, designing and delivering tailored development programmes, and mentoring colleagues to achieve individual and organisational goals. This helped me understand how to contribute to peoples’ development, starting from analysing their ambitions, needs, strengths and weaknesses, and then designing tailored development plans accordingly. Also, this role has helped me develop my management skills as I became responsible for managing a team of colleagues. And after three years, 10,000 families were helped and provided with the medical care they needed, 300 doctors and more than 50 volunteers are recruited, 4 governorates have been expanded, 4 campaigns about (Breast Cancer, HIV/AIDS, TB, Corona Virus), a solid management team has been formed and 25 partners were networked with them, such as the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, Hifz aln’emeh, Lamsa Shifa, Al Baraka Charitable Association, and others.
Luck is a determination and an opportunity. I have unlimited determination and belief that I will reach my goal. If I get this position, I would be closer to my aim, I will do everything with a passion to be an added value to your organisation.
Yours sincerely,
Jawdat Ataya
