“Gemaria Joni Ramdass grew up in a Christian home in the humble village of Fullerton Village Cedros with her both parents and 1 sibling but lived in an extended family household with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousin. Gemaria’s bigger brother and cousins were unable to pronounce her name so her name known to everyone was “”Joni”” which was also her preference. While living amongst mostly adults Joni were always a bit more mature than the average child.

Gemaria attended the Lochmaben R.C. School in her village graduating as the valedictorian of her class and then proceeded unto her first choice Vessigny Secondary School located in Vessigny Village, La Brea. At the completion of secondary, she then started to work her mother who is the Administrator of the Cedros Gems Preschool as an Assistant Teacher where she went on to pursue a Certificate in Early Childhood Education at UWI Open Campus. She then went on to pursue a Diploma in Child & Adolescent Counselling at Ensafe Institute.

The next few years of her life was solely dedicated to helping others within the community and the country by extension. In February 2018, a disaster took place in the small community of Bamboo Village, Cedros where one house collapsed along with the road and 12 homes had to evacuate. Gemaria volunteered for 1 month taking time off from her job to be in charge of the shelter located at the Cedros Community Centre,receive donations, provide 3 meals per day and deliver and assist in any way possible. After this event, she realized how much passion and love she had stored up inside for helping persons in need. On May 24th 2018, the burner was laid upon her heart to start a charitable foundation having no clue of how it was going to be financed but took the risk anyway. Upon starting this foundation, assistance was granted by businessmen and persons throughout the community and the foundation were able to host Stationery Drives, Flood Relief Assistance, monthly hampers to persons throughout the country.

In March 2019, she took the opportunity to join the Cedros Village Council to bring youthfulness, positivity and assistance to the group in any way possible. Later that year, she was appointed Secretary of the Cedros Village Council. Her life is dedicated to serving others as much as possible. She completed several community development courses along the way.

In January 2020, she decided to go back to school and pursue much more studies where she started a Diploma in Project Management at School of Practical Accounting and is currently pursuing with top grades. in 2021, due to the amount of violence taking place with our women, she decied to start a group to ensure that women can find a safe place to go to in times of need.

Gemaria is a young woman who is ambitious, honest, outspoken, indepent, strong and confident. She is a leader filled with grace, enthusiasm, positive energy, empathy, loves God, loves her family, loves people, confident, full of character, outgoing, filled with passion and purpose to complete as much as possible in her life here on earth. She dedicates her life to volunteering and helping people as much as she can.
