Elmahjoub Dasaa is a young Moroccan.He has a master degree in Media and Migrations from L’institut Supérieur de L’information et de la Communication (ISIC), in Rabat, and a Bachelor’s degree in English Studies (linguistics) from the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences, MohammedV University in Rabat, as well as a bachelor’s degree (B.A) in media studies and communication from ISIC.
Actually, he is a freelance journalist at Moroccan news outlet (www.febrayer.com), one of the most prominent news outlets in Morocco, and a contributing researcher with “The Digital and Media Research Center” at Arrabita Mohammadia des Oulamas (religious institution in Morocco specialized in countering violent extremism and peacebuilding).
He is an enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly analytical journalist with a track record of success in developing informative, meticulous, and impartial story ideas, which generate overwhelming public interest. Elmahjoub Dasaa is a dedicated and committed journalist who can thrive in challenging environments, and driving social change with excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and leadership skills.
Elmahjoub Dasaa has represented Morocco in several international events related to digital media, data journalism, and investigative journalism including: The African Investigative Journalism Conference organized by the Journalism Programme of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University) in Johannesburg, South Africa, 29 – 31 October 2018, The Investigative Journalism Workshop in Berlin: Investigate the Mediterranean, working on cross-border corruption across the Mediterranean (October2017). A training workshop on investigative journalism organized by the Ibn Rushd Center for Studies and Communication in collaboration with Free Press Unlimited organization, 23-b27 September 2013.
El mahjoub Dasaa’ works focus also on digital rights, internet governance, and internet freedom. He has represented Morocco as a delegate and speaker in The Third Internet Freedom Forum in Nigeria, April 2017, The Fifth Internet Governance Forum in South Africa, October 2016. He is the alumni of the fourth (4th) edition of African School on Internet Governance (Afrisig 2016), co-organised by (APC) and (NEPAD), from 11 to 15 October 2016 in Durban, South Africa. He also contributed as a researcher to the issue of The Digital Rights in Africa Report2017, issued by the Paradigm Initiative: Nigeria, a social enterprise that builds an ICT-enabled support system and advocates digital rights in order to improve livelihoods for under-served youth. He also attended The third Civic Education Conference (CEC) in Casablanca from 3rd to 7th December 2018, about “The Role of Civic Education for Social Cohesion” with the participation of more than 200 participants from the MENA states, Europe and other regions involving various professional backgrounds (civil society, academia, Media, corporate institutions and governmental bodies) .
El mahjoub Dasaa also attended the third edition of the International Digital Media Forum 22-26 March2017, Morocco. He also took part in a training organized by Social Media Exchange (SMEX) and MEEDAN organization: Training on Verification of Digital Content: an initiative to combat the rumors, and fake news on the Internet, 3 October – 7 November 2016. He is also the alumni of Diplofoundation, “an online course titled: Introduction to Internet Governance in Africa, Preparatory phase for the African School on Internet Governance 2016.
He is also the alumni of The 3rd annual TEF Entrepreneurship Forum as part of the UBA African Journalism Fellowship, organized by The Tony Elumelu Foundation, 13-14 October 2017, Lagos, Nigeria. He is also the fellow of The 4th Annual Internship/ Fellowship Program about “Assisting the promotion of political accountability through new media and technology in the MENA region, 04th to 31st of May, 2018 Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also took part in Data Journalism Bootcamp in Casablanca, 25- 27 October 2016, a training course at the Higher Institute of journalism and Communication in Rabat on ” video and photo reportage in the electronic press”, organized by DW Academy, 2013.
Elmahjoub Dasaa also participated at The 2018 United Nations Public Service Forum took place in Marrakesh, Morocco from 21- 23 June 2018, with the theme of “Transforming governance to realize the Sustainable Development Goals”. He also took part in a workshop organized by The Ministry of Sustainable Development in Morocco, from 18 to 20 September 2017 in Rabat, on the goals of sustainable development on the theme “The requirements for integrating the goals of sustainable development 2030 into the Industrial Development Program in the Arab States”.
