Dunmore Sana is the cofounder of Shine-Out Community Development, an initiative that
focuses on youth empowerment by providing platforms for self-development and enrichment. He
is also a junior economist for Ribbon Blockchain a start up company that is using new
technology to revolutionalise the health care sector. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce General
Degree specializing in Economics and Human Resources Management from Regent Business
School. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honors Degree from the University of Kwazulu
Natal. He is currently also a in the last stage of his Masters Degree in Economics in which he is
conducting the first study in Africa that looks at the relationship between subjective and
objective socioeconomic status and objective and health status. He was one of the World
Innovation Team finalists in 2015. He is also a part of the Activate change Drivers, the fastest
growing network of young people driving positive change in South Africa. As part of a youth
empowerment network, he has explored the socio-political environment and engaged in creating
symptomatic solutions to challenges faced by South African communities. He is one of the 27
young leaders from around the world who were chosen by MCW Global to meet for a young
leaders retreat in New York City in 2018 and develop a deeper understanding of social issues
locally and globally and develop the skills and networks needed to affect change.
