Dana Saad Edeen

Lebanon

I’m Dana Saad Edeen, a dedicated feminist activist based in Zahle, Lebanon. Vice president of the Youth Parliament, I’ve been on a journey driven by a passion for humanitarian principles and women’s rights. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and over three years of experience, I’ve collaborated with esteemed organizations such as Plan International, CRTD in partnership with NED, Gherbal , INTERSOS, and Himaya for Child and Young Women.

My expertise in international research, particularly focusing on the political participation of women and young girls, was cultivated during my tenure with CRTD and NED. This experience has given me a profound understanding of the challenges faced by women in diverse political contexts. In my role as a Project Officer with Gherbal on a UNDP project, I spearheaded initiatives to ensure the active involvement of women and young girls in public procurement processes.

In my recent position with Plan International Lebanon, I actively contributed to a Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) campaign, refining my skills in strategic campaign development and implementation. My work with INTERSOS on protection and Himaya for Child and Young Women on protection has further enriched my background, providing crucial skills for effective communication and thoughtful problem-solving within team environments.

The holistic approach of Women Now, focusing on protection, empowerment, participation, advocacy, research, and community mobilization, deeply resonates with me. My diverse skills in positive communication and critical thinking align well with Women Now’s emphasis on monitoring protection activities, policy development, and handling sensitive complaints.

I am excited about the prospect of contributing to Women Now for Development – Lebanon. My goal is to leverage my multifaceted background and Social Sciences expertise, coupled with my international research experience, to play a significant role in advancing the organization’s mission of enhancing women’s political, social, and economic participation. In doing so, I aim to contribute to the broader goals of sustainable development and peace, aligning with the SDGs, and fostering a society that is inclusive, equitable, and peaceful.
