Mr. Chut D’Aleer Deng is an accomplished, results-driven Communication and Monitoring lawyer complemented by a Bachelor of Law from University of Cairo – Khartoum Branch and Postgraduate Diploma in Private Law at Ain Shams University, Egypt, with more than nine years professional experience, he started as a volunteer as a Youth Worker for Refuge Egypt Organization, working among young Africans who escape conflicts in their homelands and came to seek refuge in Egypt. As youth worker his primary responsibilities were related to organising meetings with young refuges, mostly involve in gangs groups, to identify and discuss the challenges they faces and providing adequate support and advice in a one-to-one seasons or a group setting, also assessing risks and providing crisis counselling to young people experiencing trauma or refer them to appropriate specialists or community agencies, beside planning and conducting programs focused on the specific needs of young people, such as training and employment, self-development, education and organising and supervising group activities including sports.
Mr. Deng is complimented with the ability to analyse problems and use practical solutions, maintain an ongoing awareness of expectations & find ways to exceed them and being enthusiastic, creative and willing to assume increased responsibility, he was appointed as an Assistant Education Coordinator and Executive Secretary at Liaison Office of the Government of South Sudan in the Arab Republic of Egypt and Middle East and After the independent of South Sudan he was charge as the Acting Cultural Attaché and establish the department of Education and Culture in the newly opened Embassy, after six years he was appointed as the Cultural Attaché in August 2016 and represents the interest of South Sudan in the Arab Republic of Egypt in term Higher Education, Science, Technology and Culture. As Cultural Attaché, he spoke in many public occasions such as diplomatic events, conferences, seminars, workshop and other training programs, on topics related to peace, culture, youth empowerment, leadership and importance of education. During his term in the office, the number of South Sudanese students in the Egyptian Universities and Higher Institutes, both on scholarships and self-sponsoring, has increased significantly from about three hundreds students in year 2012 to more the ten thousands students in September 2018.
Chut believes that Culture has a great impact on people’s lives, it is what makes them who they’re, it influences all the aspect of their lives and perspectives and it forms their values, shapes their hopes and loyalties and this fact makes culture the strongest bridges between nations when use positively, as he believe that when peace became a culture nations will thrives.
As his term at the Embassy of the Republic of South Sudan in Egypt came to and end in January 2019, Mr. Deng will be working at the headquarters of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology in Juba at the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation as well as a Global Peace Ambassador.
