Pakistan
I am a South Asian Voices Visiting Fellow at the Stimson Center, Washington, D.C. I am also a Research Associate at the Centre for Strategic and Contemporary Research (CSCR), Islamabad. I have been actively volunteering in various NGOs to understand the issues facing my country.   Specifically, I have been doing volunteer work at an orphanage called ‘Sweet Homes’ where I help teach kids English and spend time with them to help them cope with loneliness and a deep sense of deprivation. I have also participated in Transparency International Pakistan’s workshops, several debates and declamations on everyday challenges facing our society. I have been an active participant in the Model United Nations (MUNs) and where I focus on the UN Development Program and UN Human Rights Commission.
I believe Conflict and Peace both have wider implications. Conflict brings violence, hatred, and sufferings. While, peace brings positivity, love, happiness, and development of human society. Through education and proper understanding of these two aspects I can contribute towards the mitigation of conflicts and help create conditions that would bring peace in the world. In Robert F. Kennedy words “It is from numberless diverse acts of courage and belief that human history is shaped. Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current that can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance.”
