My name is Anissa, Iam 20 years old and Iam a student doing a degree in humanities at the University of Caen, Normandy and I also studied geopolitics and the challenges of the globalization during one year at university too.
I was born in France, but my parents are refugees. They applied for asylum in France 22 years ago.
So my fight against injustice started when I was a young girl and realized how it feels to be a refugee in Europe, I started to be very intersted about international laws and conventions about asylum and refugees rights in european union.
Then my father had a car accident when i was 12 years old so I had to face injustice once again when he was committed to a hospital against his will because of his disability. As a teenage I had to fight for his freedom with my mom so I also started to learn more about laws.
My background gave me the energy and the experience to become a a dedicated human rights defender because I aspire to a fair and equal world.
During my studies in humanities I had the opportunity to study many topics through many disciplines like sociology, history, psychology. I decided to choose to the topic of refugees in my university works and projects because it really matters for me.
I decided to use my knowledge and experience to work with Amnesty International in my city and in september 2022 I will be in charge of the youth antenna. With Amnesty International I had the chance to learn more about many topics like wars, geopolitic, access to education, women rights …) I also had the opportunity to teach to teenagers in highschool about humans rights and death sentence. I’ve been a jury for pleading contests, I have organized cultural exchange festivals in my city, I participated in the world forum of normandy for peace etc…
I tried to give ideas of actions to promote humans rights, to educate the next generations, and try to spread the message of peace around me.
