“Alvin Doebo is a student leader and a senior student at the University of Liberia studying Economics with emphasis in Public Administration. He is also a trained electrician with a diploma in Electricity from the Accelerated Vocational Training Program. Over the years, he have helped trained other young electricians in the field of Electricity through contract based engagements where they do residential wiring for both individuals and companies.
He also a member of the University of Liberia Volunteer Movement which is a campus based volunteer Organization. This organization collaborate with other student Volunteer movements from other Universities to undertake volunteer services as well as conducting several community based engagements like cleaning up campaigns, raising awareness on issues affecting the society, preaching the message of peace and saying no to violence.
As a volunteer, he was able to learn a lot of skills on how to be a people center and selfless leader which enable him to be more creative and open-minded in working with young people from diverse backgrounds. Based on the knowledge and skills acquired and his passion for leadership, he was encouraged to establish an organization called the Gedeh Youth Initiative (GEYI). This is a community based organization situated in his home county called Grand Gedeh County.
The aims and objectives of this organization (GEYI) is to bring young people of like minds together through an interactive forum in promoting peace and unity as well as cultural norms that will guide or regulate proper and acceptable behavior among young people. He is also involved in local politics from the district level and he currently serves as the youth zonal council chairman for his political party (Congress for Democratic Change). As the chairman of the youth zonal council, he is charged with the responsibilities to coordinate and regulate all zonal activities at the district level and report to the district national youth chairman.
Alvin Doebo is a young and passionate person who is willing to learn, adapt to changes and share his experience with like- minded individuals in order to promote peace and unity in the global community.”
