Namongin Alice is native of Karamoja subregion, was born and raised in Puta village Ik community Kaabong district Uganda since 2001. She’s a finalist student at Makerere university pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Statistics, a transformative leader passionate about youth wellbeing and impacting communities.
Her bi-cultural background and focus on community inclusivity has led her into several volunteering opportunities and various community leadership roles as she did her internship at Karamoja Peace Development Agency (KAPDA) which got her engaging the community in peace dialogues, youth workshops and attending stakeholder meetings. She took part in resource mobilization of Karamoja Cultural Event (2023 Edition) which brings together all the Karamoja clusters (ATEKER) from Uganda, Kenya, Sudan and Ethiopia to have cultural displays of dances, dressing, food, peace dialogues fostering peace in the region and beyond.
As a dedicated youth advocate, she has committed herself to amplifying the voices of the younger generation, navigating the nuanced challenges faced by youth in Karamoja and Uganda. Her advocacy work revolves around fostering inclusivity, ensuring that the unique perspectives of the youth are integral components of decision-making processes. She has emerged as a beacon of leadership, spearheading impactful social entrepreneurship initiatives as she worked for World Wide Fund for nature as a community volunteer and took part in training the youth and women groups on business Idea generation on ecofriendly enterprises to venture in and the best business modules to use.
She was part of Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) delegate on climate Tech and Leaders Program at the Regional Leadership Center in Accra. This journey as a climate Tech innovator gave her a chance to meet 49 like-minded youth across Africa shared ideas, partnerships and networked. This is marked by her commitment to finding solutions to issues plaguing in her community and a deep understanding of the region’s vulnerabilities as she endeavors to address local challenges and promote sustainable development in her community.
