My name is Aiman Ba Hurmuz, I am from a beautiful small city called Aden in Yemen. Growing up in a country where conflicts are the daily atmosphere throughout its history, I have always dreamed of having a role in shaping a different future for my home country. One major reason that puts my country in its current miserable situation is the lack of a good political elite that has enough understanding of the modern issues and theories of international politics. Therefore, the political elite have led the country from a catastrophe to another instead of establishing peace and order. Consequently, I focused my goal on gaining an in-depth understanding of international relations because I believe that this would allow me to make the difference I have always wanted to make in my country.
I believe that the cornerstone for every change is education, so I made a promise to myself to develop my mental capacity by focusing my abilities on studying and gaining experience in every aspect of life that could help me achieve my dream, despite the conflicts and wars in yemen. To achieve this dream and take a closer step toward my big dream / final goal, I graduated from both elementary and high school with a GPA of 4.6/5. Moreover, I won a scholarship and Internship at AMIDEAST organization in which I acquired a variety of skills such as computer, management, human resources, community services participation, and English, which enabled me afterward to work as English instructor at Washington Institute in yemen.
After that, I decided to study and work in many places inside and outside Yemen as possible to sharpen my skills and gain a real taste of human rights, politics and other fields such as acquiring new experiences with multinational companies such as AT&T. Since I believe theory and practice are different and complete each other, I was aware to be involved in both of them: regarding the theory and academic part, I am defending my bachelor thesis in January 2022 in the field of international relations and European politics at Masaryk university in Czech Republic. As for the practical part, I worked, volunteered and participated in different organizations, conferences, training programs and initiatives in the field of human rights, humanitarian aid, and refugees’ protection programs. As being in love with helping vulnerable people, I am an international volunteering English instructor at “Bright Organization” – African organization based in Cameroon- providing English online classes for children and young refugees.
Moreover, I have implemented some initiatives and activities in Yemen to promote education, awareness and creating opportunities for underprivileged people who do not have an access to education due to the situation in Yemen. I have taken it upon myself to study the political behavior of our society, and I am convinced that it all starts with our attitude. We all have the responsibility to build a community we admire through full political participation, including voting in the right leaders and now it is time to take another step toward my dream.
All these things have shaped the person I am today. Now it is time to take another step toward another new experience. For that I strive and am eagerly motivated to be Global Peace Chain Ambassador due to:
the deep feeling of being needed, share my skills, explore the world around me, demonstrate my skills and ability, do my civil duty, and also the feeling of being in one movement with international leaders and decision-makers drives me to have a share in. However, given an opportunity like this I will also get the opportunity to interact and add to my skills new experience and possess a solid background that will assist me in the future to implement in home society.
