In today’s world, the call for peace, inclusivity, and social justice has never been more important. On this mission, Global Peace Chain (GPC) continues to create meaningful spaces where young minds can embrace leadership, teamwork, and the power of advocacy. Recently, GPC Ambassador Lerato Maris from South Africa hosted yet another inspiring session this time at St Raphael’s Learning Academy.
The session was more than just an event; it was a movement in action. Ambassador Lerato brought the essence of GPC’s vision into the classroom by encouraging students to think critically about what changes they want to see in the world. The students, grouped into teams of ten, were invited to reflect on pressing global issues and imagine solutions rooted in peace, inclusivity and community empowerment.
To deepen the experience, each group was given Global Peace Chain Tags symbols of their responsibility and potential as peace ambassadors. The task was clear: define what peace means to them and how they could bring it into their schools, homes and communities.
What unfolded was both heartwarming and transformative. Students expressed how positive affirmations and encouragement can spark ideas for real change. From classroom discussions to practical strategies, they explored how to turn advocacy into action whether through policy-making, inclusivity projects, or youth-led initiatives.
The session also highlighted teamwork. Students worked together, shared perspectives and demonstrated leadership qualities that showed how collaboration fuels progress.
To honor their participation and dedication, each student received a certificate of participation a small token of gratitude for their big ideas and commitment to peace-building. But beyond the certificates, the true reward was the confidence and motivation they carried forward from the event.
“It was amazing to see how just those words of positive affirmations gave light into how they want to implement social change and policymaking. They showed team effort and leadership.”
The Global Peace Chain initiative at St Raphael’s Learning Academy stands as a reminder that peace begins with education. By equipping youth with the tools to lead, advocate, and collaborate, GPC is planting seeds of transformation that will continue to grow across schools, communities, and nations.
As Lerato’s second successful hosting, this event reinforces GPC’s commitment to nurturing a global network of peacebuilders and changemakers.
