Gorrety Yogo’s Bio and Achievements
I am an early career researcher on Migration and Development theme with a focus on policy -influencing through Research, Capacity building and Training. I have gained experience in cross-cutting issues on migration and development such as labour migration, forced displacement, gender, youth and livelihoods, human trafficking and Smuggling of Persons, business and entrepreneurship as well as international, regional, and national policies and laws on migration and development. I have supported and written various literature reviews, Policy briefs, concept notes, blogs and reports at the African Migration and Policy Development Centre.
I’m a member of the Youth Café a non-profit organization that deals with youths and youth-led organizations to promote youth leadership in governance, health, democracy, research, Agriculture and Talent. I engage and network with youths to promote youth voices through policy influencing in the Emerging writers programme and research spaces training youths and enhancing youth policies through conversations on podcasts and Twitter space.
I am also a member of the Kenya Christian professionals Forum under the Governance and Leadership Committee where we engage on Chapter 6 of the Constitution acknowledges Leadership and Integrity, a very virtual aspect in governance. Article 10 (2) outlines National Values and Principles of Governance that bind all persons in the interpretation, development and implementation of public policy decisions in the country. Through the Governance Committee continues to be on the forefront in championing effective implementation (spirit & letter) of Chapter 6. To promote good governance and servant leadership.
I’ve recently joined the Catholic Justice and peace Commission as a member to help promote people’s development, advocate and advance a holistic approach towards social justice through the social teaching of the Catholic Church together with civic education, peace building and conflict transformation with the community.
KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS.
• Organized events including male talks, female talks, abortion talks and HIV/AIDs awareness in the University of Nairobi as I choose Life Africa member and assistant in the University of Nairobi which helped 1500 youths to gain knowledge on safe sex.
• Wrote 30 passages of 80 words each half in Kiswahili and half English then submitted to Dr. Hellen Inyega who was the lecturer in charge of early grade instruction curriculum in 2013/2014, which were to be converted to an eBook for teaching children with reading difficulties in the Reading to Learn Website.
