My name is Samintang and you can call me Sam. I am an accounting undergraduate student in FEB-UNHAS. I have held positions in both for the for-profit and non-profit sector with my roles spanning across project management and implementation, administration and marketing, scientific visioning, and community-based circular economy management. Although a full-time student, I dedicate much of my spare time towards launching my initiative, Mataran Berdaya, focuses on economic empowerment for dairy farmers in rural areas by implementing sustainable dairy farming practices.
Despite having already spent over 4 years advocating for climate change, community engagement, and social projects, I want to further expand my knowledge and became a better problem-solver. As a result, I’m currently working on community service called training and focus group discussions to increase the capacity of MSMEs in Takalar Regency to prepare sustainability company profiles based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standard.
From 2020-2022, I also have responsibility as an Indonesia SDGs Campus Ambassador accredited by the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas RI to promote SDGs in grassroot level and gratefully has achieved several international medals at research and innovation competitions related to the environment. Fast forward, I got trusted to presented about edible bioplastic and took a part as an SDGs Center UNHAS representative to give direct report to the President Joko Widodo and Minister of PPN/Bappenas in Indonesia Development Forum 2022. In my spare time, I’d like to create a microblog series about self-improvement, how to be a successful student, and SDGs perspectives.
In long term goals, I want to become a Chartered Accountant and Environmental Impact Accounting Analyst. By bridging chronic communication and data silos about sustainability accounting in the face of climate change, I hope to promote equity, accessibility, practicability and resiliency at the interface between government, business, institutions, research, and the general public, now and future.
