I come from a civil society background with over 6 years of activism and advocacy. My journey started through my participation in Model United Nations simulations. These experiences shaped parts of my skills and allowed me to grow from a regular delegate to chairing committees on several editions. My journey was richer after I’ve been awarded the MEPI Student Leaders Scholarship to study Conflict Resolution at California State University, where I was able to discover wider fields and gain more insight into my career vision.
Upon my return to my country, my participation has been constantly taking me to global levels, where I took part in programs that allowed me to shape my personality, build my capacities and develop more knowledge and expertise. I was eager to learn more and develop more knowledge. In relation to my learning journey in peacebuilding, I was very honored to be selected among the first cohort of the Young Women Peacebuilders Program by UN Women and to graduate as a mediator with rich capacities, especially in the Arab Region.
Recently, I have been appointed as the African Union Youth Ambassador for Peace (AYAP) representing the North African region with a 2-year mandate to serve the Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department and promote the positive role of youth in peace and security, to eliminate hate speech and to address challenging issues in the region that youth faces and can affect their peaceful future.
I feel very honored to have such opportunities presented to me, but I am deeply aware that this is the fruit of so many traits I developed during the years that led me to where I am today and still aiming for more, my perseverance, my dedication, the motivation I have and the aspiration I keep maintaining to take on more challenges and to grow and build with people around me. I believe this combination of civil, academic, and professional experience has made me a great profile to be considered for this program.
