Sagar Badve

Australia

Sagar is currently studying a double degree of Law and Finance at Curtin University, under the prestigious John Curtin Undergraduate Scholarship. The scholarship covers his full tuition fees and has allowed him to travel to Sweden, on exchange. Sagar has always been particularly interested in the fusion of leadership with community and as such works at an executive level for Path of Hope, a joint venture between the Salvation Army and the Rotary Club of Perth. Through Path of Hope, he is able to spread awareness on the issue of family and domestic violence. Sagar truly believes that grassroots work is where change can begin, but he sees now that large- scale change can be achieved through leading and directing strategic vision. This realization has resulted in him being a member of the Royal Commonwealth, Young Fellows Committee and the Rotary Club of Perth. He aims to bring this same level of passion, tenacity, and vigour to Global Peace Chain. Owing to his fervent interest in global economics and politics, he was awarded the Mannkal Economic Education Foundation Scholarship which will allow him to embark on a study tour around America and Europe introducing him to varied systems of economics and politics prevalent
around the world. He has sought to develop this global knowledge through his involvement with the Indo-Pacific Future Leaders Program, as a delegate, and now works as an Analyst for the Mannkal Economic Education Foundation, primarily providing analysis and research on issues pertinent to Australia’s financial and fintech future. Alongside being a Mannkal Scholar, Sagar has been awarded a few other prestigious scholarships, including the Give to Change Bursary Scholarship, LEAP Scholarship and the Georgia Rotary Student Program Scholarship. Under the Georgia Rotary Student Program Scholarship, Sagar will be attending the University of Georgia, USA in 2021, and during that time he aims to build a nationwide network, and gain a better understanding of the US financial,
political and legal climate. Outside of his studies and community involvement, Sagar enjoys cycling on the weekends and rowing as a part of the University of Western Australia's novice rowing team. Moreover, he enjoys pursuing his artistic passion of public speaking, having been a state champion debater, a national presenter for Enactus Curtin and the Head Boy of Perth Modern School, the top school in the state of Western Australia. Ultimately, he sees the power that determined young leaders can have on positively impacting their community. When combining passionate young leaders with real world leaders, this serves to be a catalyst for immense positive change. Sagar sees this occurring through his involvement with Global Peace Chain.
