I am a Secondary Mathematics teacher here in the Philippines. I’ve been teaching young minds, young heart and young soul, my learners for almost 9 years. I started teaching since 19 of age. Right after I graduated in College, I intentionally enrolled in a private school while waiting for the Licensure Examination for teachers . I’ve been in Private school for five years. Within that five years, I was able to impart knowledge, promote positive attitudes among my learners through studying and learning. I inculcated to their minds that they need to observe learning with VALUES. Through teaching them these values, they were able to guide and transform our society into a more responsible and responsive to the needs of the society as it will promote PEACE and ORDER. For me, it is not all about how many papers, awards and achievements you received that makes you the best teacher to your learners and the best teacher among the rest, but it is all about how you transformed a little kid into a man and a woman who will be helping the country and link other countries building cooperation, collaboration and inspiration. We can always be recognized by our learners before on what things they’ve made them to become a better person and a citizen in the country and to other countries wherever they are going. I may not be acknowledged and given a plaque or a certificate for a certain award just like the others, but I think, my greatest reward and award is seeing these young minds before thinking for the betterment of our country today. In my five years of stay in the private school, I supported all the programs and activities of the school in promoting cooperation , collaboration and peace to everyone. After my five years of stay in the private school, I was able to teach in the public school for almost 4 years up to this current year. I supported different community projects and programs to help again our learners gain knowledge most importantly, instilling positive values despite of their individual differences. I am a Gender and Awareness advocate. I support programs regarding GAD which is one of the Sustainable development goals. I do different activities that are being integrated in my lessons as to support the goals of SDG. To discover different trends in education and hone more my knowledge and skills in teaching, I enrolled in Graduate school to continue professional growth. Luckily and with my dedication and inspiration, I was able to finish my Masters Degree in education and still continue to study PhD. I believe that through this, I cannot only help my learners but of course my co teachers for whatever knowledge and skills I may gain, I shared them and still genuinely willing to share and help them. Despite of this pandemic that we are experiencing, I still think of these positive things that will happen.
