Eduardo is very passionate about finding solutions that economically empower underserved regions which urgently demand a step-forward towards food security. He has a deep background in the agri-food sector, experience with co-founding and managing socially impactful projects with small/medium holder farmers, and rural community development. Further, he has been involved in the operational enterprise side during his time in Australia working in the beef industry and as an Agricultural consultant for Escuela Agricola Panamericana – Zamorano, his Alma Mater. He has a Master’s degree in Plant and Soil Sciences with a concentration in Agronomy from Mississippi State University.
He is the only Honduran that has been selected as a Kirchner Food Fellow, an internationally renowned food-security applied program and training that motivated his desire to keep working in the impact investing sector. During his tenure as a fellow, he helmed the recruitment and evaluation of multiple social enterprises that used applied science to further develop the agri-food chain in Latin America. He deeply enjoys service that implies a greater good, reason why at a very young age he served his country as a volunteer firefighter doing various disaster relief and community impactful projects. He also serves the United States National Science Foundation (NSF) as a researcher and currently leads a project assessing the transdisciplinary scope of Food, Energy, and Water Nexus Security.
Eduardo is currently a researcher for the University of Minnesota in the area of Soil Fertility, Nutrient Management and Precision Agriculture. In addition, he is also pursuing a PhD degree in Soil, Water, and Climate in this institution. He is also currently working for the Kirchner Impact Foundation as an Adjunct Director of the Food Security Investing Program for Central America. More importantly, he firmly believes that we need to have food secure nations in order to guarantee peace. Eduardo is excited of humbly serving his country as a Global Peace Chain Ambassador.
