I’m Ibrahim A. Kamara, a social entrepreneur, educator, and peace builder from Sierra Leone. Born in Makonkonday village, Newton. I survived the civil war in Sierra Leone after being abducted by rebels at age 9 and losing my village to violence. Escaping to Freetown, I lived on the streets yet pursued education, earning a teaching certificate from Freetown teachers college. Today, I’m an advocate for peace through education, disaster relief and sustainable livelihood
In 2009, founded the Empowering children school, which grew from two pupils in a shelter to now two schools with over 360 students every year excelling in national exams . I also founded and led the safe haven adaptive response program[SHARP] advancing disaster relief, sustainable agriculture, and youth empowerment. As a singer, author of The African mosquito war, and couch surfing host, I promote compassion and global understanding. My guiding belief: Education, resilience, and community actions can transform lives
