My name is Jona Musai, I am 24 years old and I recently concluded my Medical studies at the Medical University of Tirana, Albania. Many Medical professionals link their love for Medicine to a very early age. I, however, did not always want to become a doctor. The passion for Medicine sparked in my heart in my early teens just like every other love, slowly and tenderly and then all at once. And now that I have merely started the journey of becoming a doctor, despite it sometimes being all-consuming, I am glad I undertook it.
My other great passion is creative writing. I have been doing it for a long time and it has become an integral part of who I am. It is an important anchor that keeps me connected to art. I actually appreciate Art in all of its forms, but my favorite is by far the theatre. I try to catch a show every week and I always find it awe-inspiring. Anton Chekhov once said “Medicine is my lawful wife, and Literature is my mistress. When I get tired of one, I spend the night with the other.” I believe this to be the most accurate description of myself.
During my free time, I volunteer at the Emergency Department at the University Hospital Centre trying to help and learn as much as I can. I also enjoy the outdoors and I love travelling and exploring new places. I am highly motivated, eager to learn and I believe my enthusiasm will enable me to work tirelessly towards adding to the positive changes in my community and beyond.
