Marsela Allmuça works as a project manager in Shelter for Abused Women and Girls in Albania (SAWG), which is a non-governmental social service established in 1998. The organization shares a strong history of fights, interventions and commitment that advances women’s safety and security, the quality of life and societal acceptance. It represents the first effort and response to emergency situations such as the ones under domestic violence and gender based violence.
Having working in the Organization has helped her to build a solid understanding of the challenges and barriers for women and girls who are DV and GBV victims in Albania especially for those who come from rural areas and marginalized groups. Her position has allowed her to build excellent advocacy and leadership skills, project management skills, as well as understanding international, national and local context of domestic violence and gender based violence including legal framework, politics and programs to address these issues. Furthermore, for the two years, she is leading the prevention program in Shelter which is focused in working with youth and different local actors to prevent domestic violence and gender based violence in Albania. Mrs. Allmuça has study Social Work and Social Policy at University of Tirana and since 2014 she is Adjunct professor at University of Tirana at the Department of Social Work and Social Policy in classes of Management of Social Projects, Evaluation of Social programs and Interviewing and Counselling in Social Work. Also she has been engaged as an external expert by international organization in Albania in development of local action plans focused on improving the performance of social services in Municipality level.
